At the beginning I would like to share a story with you. Once American President Roosevelt’s house was broken into and lots of things were stolen. Hearing this, one of his friends wrote to comfort him. President Roosevelt wrote back immediately, saying:“Dear friend, thank you for your letter, but I am all right now. I think I should thank God. for three reasons: firstly, the thief only stole things from me but did not hurt me at all; secondly, the thief has stolen some of my things instead of all my things; thirdly, most luckily for me, it was the man rather than me who became a thief.
It is certainly unlucky for anyone to be stolen from. However, President Roosevelt had three reasons to be grateful. This story tells us we should learn to be grateful in our life. There is a sentence from Mahatma Gandhi:“Live as you were to die tomorrow, learn as you were to live forever. ”
Great people are always showing their love to the world. How about us?You can not do everything, but still you can do something. So, be grateful to your life, all the people and things in your life.
Be grateful to the nature, for the fresh air you breathe, the clean water you drink, the beautiful flower you smell.
Be grateful to your parents, for they gave birth to you and taught you right from wrong.
Be grateful to your teachers, for they let you understand “what”,“how”and“why” with great patience.
Be grateful to your friends, for you have known each other since you were 9 or 10 and faced the difficulties together for so many years.
Be grateful to your lover, for he/she gave you love and helped you find the sun every time you were down.
Mother Teresa once said:“People really need help, but may attack you if you help them. Help people anyway; Give the world the best you have and you may get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.” At last I want to say: being grateful can bring us a better and more beautiful life. Why don’t we have a try? Let’s get it started!
Thank you for your listening!
Dear,
I have met faculty across our schools who are expanding religious literacy; who are exploring the role of the arts in promoting justice; who are confronting the opioid epidemic from every angle; who are working to make state and local government more effective. Their work is nothing short of inspiring.
And I’ve come to know our students – absolutely amazing students. To the parents who are here, thank you, thank you for sending these remarkable young people to us. They are nothing short of inspiring. Interacting with them is one of the great privileges of living and working on a college campus. Adele and I have had dinner with them in the Houses. We’ve watched them perform on the stage and on the playing fields. I’ve met with them during office hours and talked to them as I’ve gone running with them. If you spend time with our students, you cannot help but feel optimistic about our future.
This past week, I had lunch with thirty graduating seniors. It was wonderful to hear how they think they have changed and matured during their four years here. I actually asked them how is your current self different from your 18-year-old self that arrived here on campus, and the stories were marvelous. And I’ve witnessed this process of transformation myself.
I helped to advise three of our incoming first-year undergraduates this year, and they helped me experience and understand Harvard through their eyes. To Andrew, Claire, and Karen, thank you for sharing your first year for [with] me and for teaching me so well.
Good morning, everyone!
Its my great honor to stand here to recommend myself for the monitor. In the last two years, as the monitor of our class, Li Ling has really done a good job. I admire his hard work very much. Therefore, I would like to be the monitor and server our classmates. In daily life, I perform very well both in life and study. I am strict with myself and never be late for school or leave early. Besides, I am always ready to help our classmates when they need help.
In short, I am sure I can do well in this job. Please offer me this chance to prove myself.
It’s beyond reproach that we will come across all kinds of difficulties andchallenges in our life time .Some will be subjected to frequent sadness .Somewill lose their way to move on .Thus, only when we equip ourselves with hope andcourage can we finally succeed in the uncertain future.
Forrest Gump showed so great courage in the movie that he touched me a lot. For one thing,no matter when and where Jenny got into trouble ,Forrest Gumpwould bring her out of it without thinking how dangerous the situation would be.Maybe we should all fell ashamed that we love ourselves more than we love love, but Forrest showed great courage in love .For another,Forrest gump risked hislife to save Bubba in the war. It’s courage that helped Forrest gain a series ofhonor after war .Forrest Gump is beautiful for his perseverance and touchesothers with his courage.
A person can’t do without courage in terms of love and friendship ,letalone life . A weak person may avoid the difficulties ,but a person with couragewill face up to it head-on. Therefore, let’equip ourselves with greatcourage.

As your class monitor, my foremost responsibility would be to maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning. I will ensure that our classroom remains disciplined, respectful, and focused on studies. I will also facilitate effective communication between our teachers and classmates, ensuring everyones voices are heard and concerns addressed.

A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy lovedto come and play around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow… He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.
Time went by…The little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree.
One day, the boy came back to the tree and looked sad. “Come and play with me,” the tree asked the boy.
“I am no longer a kid, I don’t play around trees anymore.” The boy replied, “I want toys. I need money to buy them.” “Sorry, but I don’t have money…but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.” The boy was so excited. He picked all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy didn’t come back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited. “Come and play with me.” The tree said. “I don’t have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?” “Sorry, but I don’t have a house. But you can cut off my branches to build your house.” So the boy cut all the branches of the tree and left happily.
The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy didn’t appear since then. The tree was again lonely and sad. One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. “Come and play with me!” the tree said.
“I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?” “Use my trunk to build the boat. You can sail and be happy.” So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and did not show up for a long time.
Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. “Sorry, my boy. But I don’t have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you.” the tree said. “ I don’t have teeth to bite.” The boy replied. “ No more trunk for you to climb on.” “I am too old for that now.” the boy said. “I really want to give you something…the only thing left is my dying roots.” The tree said with tears. “I don’t need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years.” The boy replied. “Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest. Come here, please sit down with me and have a rest.” The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears…
This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parent. When we were young, we loved to play with Mom and Dad… When we grow up, we leave them, andonly come to them when we need something or when we are in trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they could to make you happy. You may think that the boy is cruel to the tree but thats how all of us are treating our parents.
As everyone knows,English is very important today. It has been used everywhere in the world. It hasbecome themost common language on Internetand for international trade. If we can speak English well,we will have more chance to succeed.Because more and more people have taken notice of it,the number of the people who go to learn English has increased at a high speed.
But for myself,I learn English not only because of its importance and its usefulness, but also because of my love for it.When I learn English,I can feel a different way of thinking which gives me more room to touch the world. When I read English novels,I can feel the pleasurefromthe book which is differentfromreading the translation. When I speak English,I can feel the confidentfrommy words. When I write English,I can see the beauty which is not the same as our Chinese...
I love English,it gives me a colorful dream.I hope I can travel around the world one day. With my good English,I can make friends with many peoplefromdifferent contries.I can see many places of great intrests.I dream that I can go to London, because it is the birth place of English.
I also want to use my good English to introduce our great places to the English spoken people,I hope that they can love our country like us.
I know,Rome was not built in a day. I believe that after continuous hard study, one day I can speak English very well.
If you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. So I believe as I love English everyday,it will love me too.
I am sure that I will realize my dream one day!
Thank you!
First, I would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? Happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. If I had asked this question to president Nixon, he would probably had said,”Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.”
Needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to China is the 2008 Olympic Games. Till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. How much changes have you seen? New roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.
Other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the Olympic Games that cannot be seen directly. For example, more and more people will get to know China. I’m sure the mysterious Chinese culture will attract them strongly. And the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. What is more, Olympic Games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of Chinese youth with the Olympic values and the Olympic spirit. Now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?
I’ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China. But I think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ”Does the Olympic Games have any special meaning to you?”
For us, I mean the Chinese youth, 2008 Olympic Games is a tremendous gift. Because what we are waiting for is to do something significant as repaying the love given to us .The society is just like a ship, and in our dreams the captain is waving his hand and saying ”Hey! Come here and take the helm! ”How charming his voice is, but we have never heard of it in our true life. This morning, however, when we wake up, we will see the Olympic Games waving its hand. After chewing, most of us will have at least one plan about what to do for the Olympic Games. And mine is to be a “comforter” ----that is someone who will give comfort to others.
At the end of my speech, I hope all the preparation will go well, and everyone will show their ability to the world. Let us seize opportunities and give a big smile to challenges.
What life is abouthttp
htmlAs we all know, the most important thing in life is our attitude towards it, tons of men have tried different ways of treating life, and some succeeded, some failed, and here are some of the tips they left us.
Life isn’t about keeping score. Life isn’t about your shoes or your hair or the color of your skin. In fact it’s not about if you have lots of friends or if you are alone, and it’s not about how accepted or unaccepted you are. Life just isn’t about that.
But life is about whom you love and who you hurt. It’s about how you feel about yourself. It’s about trust, happiness and compassion. It’s about sticking up for your friends and replacing inner hate with love. Life is about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance and building confidence. It’s about what you say and what you mean. It’s about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. And we should always remember to be ourselves. Other might have things that we desire but being what we really are is the only trail leading to the true colors of life. Most of all, it’s about choosing to use your life to touch someone else’s in a way that could have never been achieved otherwise.
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers; we buy more but enjoy them less. We’ve learnt how to make a living but not a life, we’ve added years to life, but not life to years. And it is time for us to choose whether to make a difference in our life.
And these choices are what life is about.
Dear students and teachers,
Its my honor to stand here and say something about friendship. When I decided to begin my speech,I found that I could hardly express my feelings using my limited vocabulary.I needed more words to let you know how exactly how great it is to have someone to love as well as to be loved.
When I just bacame a new student here and hnow few people.I was alone at the beginning, but was not lonely. Thanks to this period of unsual time,I remember my unforgettable experience with my friends and teachers.
I have got friends who ran in the rain crazily with me.And I shouldnt forget the time we threw snowballs at each other. After lunch,we listened to music, sitting on the soft playground. After school,we lay down on the playground to see the beautiful sky with white clouds floating across.。.Friends made my life full of excitement, imagination and romance. They taught me to be sensitive and enthusiastic.I learnt to hold on to my dream and never give up.But unfortunately,I was too shy to let them know my great appreciation before the left me.
I love my old friends and Ill have new friends to love as well.Love comes and goes but friendship stays. Its sweet and poetic, full of tears, hopes and happiness.Whenever I go in the future,I will never feel lonely, because of you,my dear friends.I know Im growing uo with you.
Thanks for your attention.

Failure is common in our real life.It is somthing that inevitable toeveryone. But people's attitudes failure differ.
To those pessimists, failure is just like a mountain lies before them andprevent them from walking forward.when they face it,they give up onefailure is enough to make them feel sad, lose their hearts. As a result, they won'ttry again. In other words, they have been beaten by the failure totally. However tothose optimists, the attitude is quite opposite. In their eyes, one failure doesn'tmean anything, for it's just an experience that unavoidable on their way to thesuccess.Knowing this, therefore, they will never complain od feel sad. What theywill do is to calm down and find out the causes of their failures, then analysethem in order to avoid making the same mistake.
In my view, of course,I tend to the second attitude.actually, failure is akind of required course in our life.It is not an end but a start for us as longas we make good use of it.Thus, don't give up and give ,failureitself is not fearful. What matters is your attitudes towardsit.and?fragile.They?will?lose?in?great?pain?even?suicide.?At?this?question?which?argument?is?reasonable,i?have?my?own?ideas.At?first,i?hate?failure.But?Gold?take?no?cares?and?we?always?be?a?loser?at?last.However,we?cannot?be?beat?by?the?failure,we?should?find?the?problem?solution?on?the?basic?of?failure?and?overcome?the?difficulty.?Only?in?this?way?can?the?failure?play?a?good?role.
A Brother Like That A Brother Like That A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it. "Is this your car, Mister?"
he said. Paul nodded. "My brother gave it to me for Christmas."
The boy was astounded. "You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn’t cost you nothing? Boy, I wish . . ."
He hesitated. Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down to his heels. "I wish,"
the boy went on, "That I could be a brother like that."
Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, "Would you like to take a ride in my car?"
"Oh yes, Id love that."
After a short ride, the boy turned with his eyes aglow, said, "Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?"
Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul was wrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are?"
the boy asked. He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car. "There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Christmas and it didn’t cost him a cent. And some day Im gonna give you one just like it . . . then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that Ive been trying to tell you about."
Paul got out and lifted the lad to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride. That Christmas Eve, Paul learned what Jesus meant when he said: "It is more blessed to give . . . "
The Tibetan Antelope Kneeling On Its knees
Today I am going to tell you a true story about a life-altering event that happened to an old hunter from Tibet’s northern lands.
Early in the morning, the hunter saw a group of Tibetan antelopes on grass hill near his tent. He rushed out of his tent and mounted his horse with his rifle. The antelopes all quickly ran away except one. A strong, fat one ran only a few steps and came back. It looked imploringly at him, stepped up towards him and then knelt on its knees with tears streaming down from its eyes. Feeling softhearted for a flashing moment, the hunter did not pull the trigger. But after he shut his eyes, pulled the trigger and the antelope fell onto the ground in a kneeling position with discernible tears still on its face.
The old hunter restlessly cut the Tibetan antelope open. What he had saw made him choke on his breath and the knife fell on the ground with a crash. He saw a baby antelope lying in the womb, surely dead. All of a sudden he realized why the antelope was strong and fat and why it heavily knelt before him and cried: It was imploring him to have mercy on its baby!
The old hunter buried the antelope and its unborn baby together with his hunting rifle that day
I will never forget this story. Today I told it to more people and I’d like to point out: In the world the kneeling of loving mothers, whatever of human being or animal is sacred. Lives of all kinds are equal. Let us care about the nature, care about our life with our affection and respect to the life. Hopefully we could live harmoniously, as part of nature.
Be Like a Pine Tree And Bear What You Can
School had been very easy for me in the beginning. I had been the usual routine---show up for school, complete assignments, take tests, get grades. And that was usually straight A’s. I thought school was that easy.
Suddenly middle school began. Sure, I was a top student for six years, why would it be any harder? It was; the bad mark in a pop quiz deeply humbled me.
I became very resentful and angry about my situation. I felt so depressed for feeling inferior.
One winter day we had a heavy snow. Mother took me for a long walk. “ See those elm trees,” she said. “ The branches are broken. The trees may die. But look at those pine trees! They are not hurt by the snow.” “ When they have more snow than they can hold, they lower the branches and let the snow slip away. The next morning they are as good as ever.”
“There are just two kinds of trees in the world: the stubborn and the wise. Be like a pine tree. Bear what you can, then let the load slide off. You will move forward lightly.”
Yes, “Be like a pine tree. Bear what you can! ” Shake off resentment, angry and depression. We will have a bright future.

Smoking in pregnancy greatly increases the risk of miscarriage, is associated with lower birthweight babies, and inhibited child development.
Smoking by parents following the birth is linked to sudden infant death syndrome, or cot death, and higher rates of infant respiratory illness, such as bronchitis, colds, and pneumonia.
Nicotine, an ingredient of tobacco, is listed as an addictive substance by the US authorities.
Although the health risks of smoking are culmulative, giving up can yield health benefits regardless of the age of the patient, or the length of time they have been smoking.
Future impact
By 20xx, the WHO expects the worldwide death toll to reach 10 million, causing 17.7% of all deaths in developed countries.
There are believed to be 1.1 billion smokers in the world, 800 million of them in developing countries.
As you slowly open your eyes, look around , notice where the light comes into your room; listen carefully, see if there are new sounds you can recognize; feel with your body and spirit, and see if you can sense the freshness in the air. Yes, yes, yes, its a new day, its a different day, and its a bright day! And most importantly, it is a new beginning for your life, a beginning where you are going to make new desicisions, take new actions, make new friends, and take your life to a totally unprecedented level! You know all this is real as long as you are confident, passionate and committed! And you are confident, you are passionate, you are committed!
You will no longer fear making new sounds, showing new facial expressions, using your body in new ways, approaching new people, and asking new questions. You will live every single day of your life with absolute passion, and you will show your passion through the words you speak and the actions you take. You will focus all your time and effort on the most important goals of your life. You will never succumb to challenges of hardships. You will never waver in your pursuit of excellence. After all,you are the best, and you deserve the best!As your coach and friend, I can assure you the door to all the best things in the world will open to you, but the.
key to that door is in your hand. You must do your part, you must faithfully follow the plans you make and take the actions you plan, you must never quit, you must never fear. I know you must do it, you can do it, you will do it, and you will succeed!
Now stand firm and tall, make a fist, get excited, and yell it out: I must do it! I can do it! I will do it! I will succeed! I must do it! I can do it! I will do it! I will succeed! I must do it! I can do it! I will do it! I will succeed!
Growing with English
Back in the years when I was only six years old or so, I had my first taste of English. It seemed very strange to me. At the very beginning, I was not so interested in this strange language. Moreover, the English TV program always took time away from my cartoon shows. As a result, I started to hate English.
Time flies. Things completely changed at the end of my primary ['praiməri] school life.
In the last exam of the whole primary school period, I did so well in English that I got a full mark. I found that I could do a perfect job in English if I put my heart on it. This exam seems to be a turning point on my road of studying English and has really inspired [in'spaiəd] me. Although [ɔ:l'ðəu] there are still many
challenges ['t∫ælindӡ] waiting for me, these setbacks won’t hurt my confidence ['kɔnfidəns] and will push me to study harder.
Now, my ideal future like this, we have English classes everyday , because l like English very much. The classes are quite small, there are about 15 students in each class. Nothing is impossible for willing hearts and I believe, in the future, I can fly as high as I wish to.
Thanks for your listening!
Dear,
Today, the topic of my speech is "make a dream". A slight spring breeze blows across the threshold of life, bringing us infinite warmth and comfort, and the new semester is coming. In the past study, whether you are smiling and proud in the face of the sun or secretly sad and discouraged, this has become an eternal memory. Everything in front of us is new. Facing this new beginning, are you ready as a knight? We are lucky, because we have the best years and vow a regretless youth; We are glad because we embrace the most lofty ideals and look forward to a wonderful future. However, we are like the floating auspicious clouds. If we dont set foot in the sky in the morning, how can we know the gorgeous brilliance and fire like red of the Kai star?
So we embarked on such a long journey. Since we have chosen to advance step by step on the road to our ideals, we will not expect a smooth flow; Since you have chosen to find the other side of your dream in the ocean of knowledge, you cant expect plain sailing. This process will be difficult, but how can we stop and fail? This journey may be a rugged mountain road. Sometimes people fall, but we should have the faith to get up; Maybe its a cliff, steep and straight, but we should have the courage to pick snow lotus at the top of the peak; Perhaps it is a storm, lightning and thunder, and we should have the persistence to usher in the rainbow and blue sky. Dear students, you have spent a period of middle school. Are you confident in a more busy and fulfilling learning life in the future? Pay attention to the present, look to the future, dont be afraid, dont sigh, start from now on, give orders to yourself, overcome your inertia, and constantly warn yourself; Ideal is a beautiful and ethereal finish line. Only the action towards the finish line is the most valuable.
Youth does not belong to gray. Youth does not admit failure, so it uses passion to ignite the fire of knowledge, irrigates brilliant smile with sweat, sprinkles the power of youth, and lives the brilliance of youth! Students of grade three and grade three, you are persistent and firm in your struggle. We see your hard sweat and joy in your heart. We know you are making promises for your dreams! At the moment when there are more than 100 days to go before the high school entrance examination, I wish you, and I wish you a confident step all the way, cross the threshold of fate, surpass the dragon in your dream, turn into a dragon and roar in the ideal sky! As sophomores, we will run on this journey with a more mature attitude and a more vigorous pace. Where there is a will, there is a way. The hundred and two Qinguan pass eventually belongs to Chu; A hard-working man can live up to his duty. He can eat three thousand Yue Jia! Lets work together, make our dreams come true, and offer our most precious gifts for the upcoming school anniversary! This is the end of my speech. Thank you!
