I feel so happy to have the chance to make a speech. The title of my speech is Protect the Environment, Protect Ourselves. I hope you will like it.
Everybody knows waste pa-pe-r and used coke cans are discarded everywhere. You might have seen plastic bags flying in the sky and getting caught in the trees when the wind blows or maybe you have seen old cans floating in the rivers and polluting the water. Our environment is the place in which we live, but it is being ruined by us.
There is a story about house and trees. It is said that a man’s house was surrounded by a lot of trees. Though the wind was strong, that man could have a good rest under the trees. How comfortable the life was!
One day, that man wanted to enlarge his house, so he cut down all the trees. Then the autumn came without the protection. The strong wind blew the roof of the house into the sky. The whole house was gone with the wind. What a pity!
But that’s the price people have to pay for destroying in the ecology balance. People shouldn’t be short-sighted. Protecting the environment is everyone’s task.
As you know, there are four kinds of pollution. They are air pollution, water pollution, waste pollution and noise pollution. But what can we do to solve the pollution? I think, firstly, we can make cars that don’t pollute the environment. We can ask companies to use modern clean technology.
In some big cities, we can limit the number of cars. Secondly, we can try to use lewater and make sure that we do not pollute the water. We can tell factories that they are not allowed to pour waste water into the lakes and rivers.
Thirdly, we should not throw rubbish in parks and cities. We can pick up rubbish if we see it. We can put more rubbish bins in our parks and cities. Fourthly, we can live far from the noise and make the laws to limit the noise.
Zoos should be banned.
Nowadays, lots of people start to realize that zoos are not a good place for animals. People need zoos because it is an easy way to close the animals and also because it's convenient for people to observe them. However, zoos are in fact a cruel place for animals. Animals should live in their natural habitat. An animal's natural instinct is to run and to hunt. But that's not for animals kept in zoos. Everyday, people feed them. They've never been taught how to hunt for food and will gradually lose their natures. That will be quite cruel for a animal, especially for wild animals such as tigers and lions. You can often find in zoos that a tiger kept in cage has a loose expression in its face.We set animals in zoos and therefore feel that they won't meet danger and may be able to protect them from dying out. This may be just a excuse we find for ourselves to make animals in cages just as entertainment. We always say animals are our friends, then why we put our friends in cages?
As food is to the body, so is learning to the mind. Our bodies grow and muscles develop with the intake of adequate nutritious food. Likewise, we should keep learning day by day to maintain our keen mental power and expand our intellectual capacity. Constant learning supplies us with inexhaustible fuel for driving us to sharpen our power of reasoning, analysis, and judgment. Learning incessantly is the surest way to keep pace with the times in the information age, and an infallible warrant of success in times of uncertainty.
Once learning stops, vegetation sets in. It is a common fallacy to regard school as the only workshop for the acquisition of knowledge. On the contrary, learning should be a never-ending process, from the cradle to the grave. With the world ever changing so fast, the cease from learning for just a few days will make a person lag behind. What's worse, the animalistic instinct dormant deep in our subconsciousness will come to life, weakening our will to pursue our noble ideal, sapping our determination to sweep away obstacles to our success and strangling our desire for the refinement of our character. Lack of learning will inevitably lead to the stagnation of the mind, or even worse, its fossilization, Therefore, to stay mentally young, we have to take learning as a lifelong career.
Time flies! Our freshmen have spent two months in our beautiful campus of university. Every new beginning is a new challenge. We can't expect anything to be the same as our imagine.Different envirenment is a new battle. We are always curious with the things around.Though we come from different placeswe have our own dream our own ambition our own challenge. But the mankind is sometimes so fragile that it can't withstand outside lure.
Many students are the first time to be so far away form home. They come to a foreign city a foreign campus facing so many foreign but friendly faces.Plenty of activities bring us fresh air and pleasant fleeing.Be busy with study and work enriches our lifehelping preventing our homesick.
Life in campus is different with that in elementary school and middle school. We have much spare time dominated by our own.Our campus is just like another home.People from all corners of our country come together to form a big family. There are tears as well as laughters. We have troubles but we are also learning to conquer them.We become more and more brave and more and more stronger. We are no longer the little baby that will never grow up in our parents eyes.We are growing up day by day.
I love the life in our university. We have a new starting point a new origin and a period of a brand new life. Our freshmen life is continuing. Please wait and see our brilliant achievement!
Never Put off until Tomorrow What You Can DoToday
We have been told that never put off until tomorrowwhat you can do today since childhood. However, there are still many people who like putting off thethings that should do today until tomorrow.Theyhave no plans for their work and their time. As aresult, they will not accomplish their goals in theend. For example, one Sunday I felt so tired after having a football match that I did not finishmy homework even at night. I thought I could get up earlier to go to school the next morningso that I could finish my homework before class. But the next morning I was not able to get toschool in time because of the traffic jam. I was punished by the teacher. It taught me a lesson. From then on I made a determination that I would never put off anything important until thenext day. Please remember: Work today, for you don’t know how much you may be hinderedtomorrow. Seize the present day, cherish every minute you have now and trust the tomorrowas little as possible.

Morning, winter fog diffuse. Immediately after the fog clears, there was abeautiful picture. The pine needles are standing on a thick layer of whitefrost, white it is like a tree. A few blows over, the yellow leaves arefalling.
In the snowy morning, I saw the white snow, really don't have the heart togo to step on it. When I was walking on the beishan stone road, I heard thesquelching sound.
My face is frozen some tight, some itching,, although very cold, but thecold was also covered with my happy mood.
Winter is my favorite.

Over the next five minutes, my intention is to transform your relationship with sound. Let me start with the observation that most of the sound around us is accidental, and much of it is unpleasant. (Traffic noise) We stand on street corners, shouting over noise like this, and pretending that it doesn't exist. Well, this habit of suppressing sound has meant that our relationship with sound has become largely unconscious.
There are four major ways sound is affecting you all the time, and I'd like to raise them in your consciousness today. First is physiological. (Loud alarm clocks) Sorry about that. I've just given you a shot of cortisol, your fight/flight hormone. Sounds are affecting your hormone secretions all the time, but also your breathing, your heart rate -- which I just also did -- and your brainwaves.
It's not just unpleasant sounds like that that do it. This is surf. (Ocean waves) It has the frequency of roughly 12 cycles per minute. Most people find that very soothing, and, interestingly, 12 cycles per minute is roughly the frequency of the breathing of a sleeping human. There is a deep resonance with being at rest. We also associate it with being stress-free and on holiday.
The second way in which sound affects you is psychological. Music is the most powerful form of sound that we know that affects our emotional state. (Albinoni's Adagio) This is guaranteed to make most of you feel pretty sad if I leave it on. Music is not the only kind of sound, however, which affects your emotions.
Natural sound can do that too. Birdsong, for example, is a sound which most people find reassuring. (Birds chirping) There is a reason for that. Over hundreds of thousands of years we've learned that when the birds are singing, things are safe. It's when they stop you need to be worried.
The third way in which sound affects you is cognitively. You can't understand two people talking at once ("If you're listening to this version of") ("me you're on the wrong track.") or in this case one person talking twice. Try and listen to the other one. ("You have to choose which me you're going to listen to.")
We have a very small amount of bandwidth for processing auditory input, which is why noise like this -- (Office noise) -- is extremely damaging for productivity. If you have to work in an open-plan office like this, your productivity is greatly reduced. And whatever number you're thinking of, it probably isn't as bad as this. (Ominous music) You are one third as productive in open-plan offices as in quiet rooms. And I have a tip for you. If you have to work in spaces like that, carry headphones with you, with a soothing sound like birdsong. Put them on and your productivity goes back up to triple what it would be.
The fourth way in which sound affects us is behaviorally. With all that other stuff going on, it would be amazing if our behavior didn't change. (Techno music inside a car) So, ask yourself: Is this person ever going to drive at a steady 28 miles per hour? I don't think so. At the simplest, you move away from unpleasant sound and towards pleasant sounds. So if I were to play this -- (Jackhammer) -- for more than a few seconds, you'd feel uncomfortable; for more than a few minutes, you'd be leaving the room in droves. For people who can't get away from noise like that, it's extremely damaging for their health.
And that's not the only thing that bad sound damages. Most retail sound is inappropriate and accidental, and even hostile, and it has a dramatic effect on sales. For those of you who are retailers, you may want to look away before I show this slide. They are losing up to 30 percent of their business with people leaving shops faster, or just turning around on the door. We all have done it, leaving the area because the sound in there is so dreadful.
I want to spend just a moment talking about the model that we've developed, which allows us to start at the top and look at the drivers of sound, analyze the soundscape and then predict the four outcomes I've just talked about. Or start at the bottom, and say what outcomes do we want, and then design a soundscape to have a desired effect. At last we've got some science we can apply. And we're in the business of designing soundscapes.
Just a word on music. Music is the most powerful sound there is, often inappropriately deployed. It's powerful for two reasons. You recognize it fast, and you associate it very powerfully. I'll give you two examples. (First chord of The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night") Most of you recognize that immediately. The younger, maybe not. (Laughter) (First two notes of "Jaws" theme) And most of you associate that with something! Now, those are one-second samples of music. Music is very powerful. And unfortunately it's veneering commercial spaces, often inappropriately. I hope that's going to change over the next few years.
The cheongsam is a female dress with distinctive Chinese features and enjoys a growing popularity in the international world of high fashion.
The name "cheongsam," meaning simply "long dress," entered the English vocabulary from the dialect of China's Guangdong Province (Cantonese). In other parts of the country including Beijing, however, it is known as "qipao", which has a history behind it.
When the early Manchu rulers came to China proper, they organized certain people, mainly Manchus, into "banners" (qi) and called them "banner people" (qiren), which then became loosely the name of all Manchus. The Manchu women wore normally a one-piece dress which, likewise, came to be called "qipao" or "banner dress." Although the 1911 Revolution toppled the rule of the Qing (Manchu) Dynasty, the female dress survived the political change and, with later improvements, has become the traditional dress for Chinese women.
Easy to slip on and comfortable to wear, the cheongsam fits well the female Chinese figure. Its neck is high, collar closed, and its sleeves may be either short, medium or full length, depending on season and taste. The dress is buttoned on the right side, with a loose chest, a fitting waist, and slits up from the sides, all of which combine to set off the beauty of the female shape.
The cheongsam is not too complicated to make. Nor does it call for too much material, for there are no accessories like belts, scarves, sashes or frills to go with it.
Another beauty of the cheongsam is that, made of different materials and to varying lengths, they can be worn either on casual or formal occasions. In either case, it creates an impression of simple and quiet charm, elegance and neatness. No wonder it is so much liked by women not only of China but of foreign countries as well.

Hello everyone!I'm so pround that I stand here to make a speech.Today my topic is "defeat".
The failure is the mother of success. But how many people are actually ableto grasp the mystery?
General speaking, people are afraid of failure. What should we fail toface? The key issues were to fail.We understand and transform the world, thedefeat was inevitable.Brave in face of failure is the only correct way tosuccess of our guide. We can sum up the lesson from failure. After many mistakes,we should be close to success and believe that failure is only temporary.Thefailure of the people tend to be alone, around on his support, even a comfortingword, can add to his great power.
In a word, failure are not terrible. Horrible is you don't have the courageto face defeat feeling!

"If you don't want to wake up and find you have no pants to wear, you'd better put themon in sleep," goes a popular joke among students. Obviously, campus thefts have becomeincreasingly annoying as they occur far more often than before. And it seems that the thievesare less choosy these days, with their targets ranging widely from bikes, cell phones, purses,pre-paid IC cards to sunglasses, bags, and even underwear. In short, anything that worth adime is likely to be stolen.
What makes students the easy targets? The reasons are not hard to find. But I believe ofall these reasons, the lack of anti-theft alertness is the most important. For lack of alertness, the students tend to leave the doors and windows wide open during sleep at noon or at nightin summer. For the same reason, they'll also leave their bikes unlocked before a store or by aroad, or forget to take away their personal stuff before they go out of the classroom to make aphone call. These acts undoubtedly have increased their exposure to the light-fingeredmonsters.
In order to minimize possible losses, the students must stay on guard in the first place, asawareness of the thefts around often makes a big difference. To be more specific, thestudents should not hide any tempting amount of cash in the dorm. Put it in the bank instead.Besides, do not leave any valuable items unattended. Take them wherever you go. Inaddition, it's advisable to develop a neighbourhood watch programme with other students inthe dorm and neighbouring dorms.
dear all,
life on earth are the most valuable things money can not buy, jewelry-for-not go back. life only once, should not renewable and will not re-come. students, and your life has just begun blooming flower, you are prosperous home sustenance, development of the chinese nation are the hope of; your future offspring transmission of both task and maintenance obligations of parents. therefore, you have to cherish life and take care of life, for themselves and for parents, good for homeland alive.
life for each person only once, no life, everything免谈. therefore, we must firmly embrace the "yes to life, safety first" awareness of construction safety of our campus so that students can grow up healthily.
campus safety relates to our lives and learning potential safety problems have as many as 20 kinds, including traffic accidents, poisoning, fire fire, drowning, sports injury and so on. these are at times a threat to the healthy growth of young students. according to statistics, every year our country has around 16,000 unnatural deaths in the primary, elementary and middle school students because of safety accidents, food poisoning, drowning and other deaths, the average has more than 40 people every day, that is to say every day there will be a class of students at "disappeared." so we not only have safety awareness, and more importantly, prevention awareness and preventive measures. study at daily life, we should note the following:
one, pay attention to safety recess activity. want the students up and down stairs in an orderly manner and must not hurriedly up and down, up and down the stairs right to cultivate the good habit of walking to prevent accidents on campus crowded stampede. rainy at our school buildings and office building corridor, staircase, will be very slippery, please the whole student must light when walking at the foot walk. everyone should pay attention to civilization recess breaks should not chased noisy.
2, it is necessary to pay attention to traffic safety. we must strictly comply with rules of the road, without people to ride, not red light running, horse way to go before crosswalks, it is necessary to take the initiative to avoid motor vehicles. not want to develop the habit of school by bike.
3, pay attention to food safety. not to buy "three noes" of food; we should not be at the school gate and street stalls mobile buy snacks, to prevent food poisoning. to learn how to protect themselves, take care of themselves, pay attention not to overeating, try eating less food cold.
4, it is necessary to pay attention to sports safety. on physical education and extra-curricular activities to prepare before the warming-up, attention should be paid to exercise when not to dramatic collision, so as not to be knocked down or fall.
5, it is necessary to pay attention to internet security. network is a very good learning tool, we can use it to gather information, broaden our horizon. but the network also has a lot of harm, if unhealthy internet browsing web pages, or indulge in unrestrained virtual space, then it will affect our physical and mental health.
6 students for their own actions but also have safety awareness. student encountered at the contradictions between, we want a calm, rational, should not substitute for reasoning with fists, give themselves and their classmates bring about adverse effects. conflict with the people must bear in mind: the broader picture.
teacher and fellow students, only one person's life. a collision, a wrestling are probably the lives of vulnerable people's hard to imagine the harm caused. therefore want to protect their own safety,
we comply with the minimum required, the most simple rules and order. let us bear in mind: human life, safety first! let us work together to create a harmonious campus, campus safety!

Each person whether rich or poor has his own difficulties, because life is not always full of smiles and flowers. So it is very important to have a correct attitude to face up the difficulties.
Different people have different views on it. Some people just want to evade and they haven’t tried their best, so they can’t achieve success in the end. But some people believe that “Failure is the mother of success”,they are confident and brave when they have difficulties. They choose to face up the difficulties with a smile and try their best to solve their problems. If they have troubles they’ll discuss with their friends or family members.
The right way to face up difficulties is to be confident and brave , Confront difficulties with confident and you will find the difficulties are not so hard as you thought. Try to solve the difficulties with brave and work hard , the difficulties will disappear and you will achieve success finally.
I don't think so. printed books won't be abandoned in such a short time. I admit that new technology is developing fast.
Many advanced electronic products are gradually take the place of traditional tools. Just like in university, teachers like to use multimedia in class for it is quite convenient and efficient. However, for our student, it is not realistic to study completely by electronic products.
There are many things need to recorded on books. Books are something meaningful and practical. I should say, in our country, printed books wouldn't be abandoned within 20 years at least for two reasons.
Firstly, books are classical container of knowledge. They accompany human to advance. A student without books could be someway ridiculous.
Secondly, our country haven't developed so strong to make every student study by computer or other forms of electronic tools. And even after 20 years, the possibility is also very small.
I also think it is unnecessary because books are cheap but useful and still meaningful.
If there is any single factor that makes for success in living, it is theability to profit by defeat. Every success I know has been achieved because theperson was able to analyze defeat and actually profit by it in his nextundertaking. Confuse defeat with failure, and you are doomed indeed to failure. For it isn't defeat that makes you fail: it is your own refusal to see in defeatthe guide and encouragement to success.
Defeats are nothing to be ashamed of. They are routine incidents in thelife of every man who achieves success. But defeat is a dead loss unless you doface it without humiliation, analyze it and learn why you failed. Defeat, inother words, can help to cure its own cause. Not only does defeat prepare us forsuccess, but nothing can arouse within us such a compelling desire to succeed. If you let a baby grasp a rod and try to pull it away, he will cling more andmore tightly until his whole weight is suspended. It is this same reaction whichshould give you new and greater strength every time you are defeated. If youexploit the power which defeat gives, you can accomplish with it far more thanyou are capable of.
Class 7. WFLS. Am I too late to say it’s just like a dream come true?
Quite frankly, military training is tiring. I’ve been told a million times about how exhausted I would be as soon as I finished this grueling training, and I don’t have any objection about that. However, now, I’ve got an Yes and No! I mean, physically,Yes, I have sun-tanned skin right now and for the first time I loathe being under the sun. Not to mention my sore legs and back. But this is just the heads of the coin. Tails, which means mentally, No! My inability to find proper words to express my feelings seems more and more overwhelming. Incredible? Unbelievable? Marvellous? Extremely impeccable maybe? These words are pale in comparison to the big picture of my future life. It’s like unwittingly, you fall in love with a new group of people, you feel for everything, you fall for everything.
I don’t know if I am being sensitive here. I remember us sprint out the door to assemble because we are running late. I remember us complaining about the miserable food when it’s time for lunch. I remember us sitting weirdly comfortable in a cool dark place when other classes were sweating. I remember us sharing jaw-dropping details about our lives and feel connected to others. I remember all those moments of rapture and ecstasy, all those senses of déjà vu, all those smiles of genuine happiness.
It’s like suddenly, I am no longer a prosaic girl living a plain life. It’s been a long time since the last time I didn’t regard myself as a catastrophe. As a lonely highway. The strong hope for the future made me the girl on fire. As I spoke with some friends of my pastimes and passions, words of such silky texture poured out from my soul with unparalleled candor and cadence. The voice that issued from my lips was at once richer, deeper, stronger than I had ever produced. It was as though an inner self, a core essence, had broken free and taken control. I broke out of my niche!
Anyway, I shouldn’t be too excited because it’s just five days. Even though I have already found some friends with extraordinarily similar interests as I do. Even though this is breaking news for me because I enjoyed be in this together finally. Even though the words of encouragements faded, I still recall them from time to time to taste it all over again. I swear I’m not severed from reality. Momentarily, it’s just impossible to describe all the details that happened during 5 days. I just need to speak all these things about how delighted I am to be in this class and try to be in tranquility…
I am a relatively total stranger to my new school. But it’s such a sensory bombardment for me even to think about it. I wanna be a part of something I don’t know. A fledging dragonfly is ready. I believe that the monarch will be crowned. May the best man win! You are gonna hear Class 7 ROAR!
Ps. I’d better start packing…
When I was 27 years old, I left a very demanding job in management consulting for a job that was even more demanding: teaching. I went to teach seventh graders math in the New York City public schools. And like any teacher, I made quizzes and tests. I gave out homework assignments. When the work came back, I calculated grades.
What struck me was that I.Q. was not the only difference between my best and my worst students. Some of my strongest performers did not have stratospheric I.Q. scores. Some of my smartest kids weren't doing so well.
And that got me thinking. The kinds of things you need to learn in seventh grade math, sure, they're hard: ratios, decimals, the area of a parallelogram. But these concepts are not impossible, and I was firmly convinced that every one of my students could learn the material if they worked hard and long enough.
After several more years of teaching, I came to the conclusion that what we need in education is a much better understanding of students and learning from a motivational perspective, from a psychological perspective. In education, the one thing we know how to measure best is I.Q., but what if doing well in school and in life depends on much more than your ability to learn quickly and easily?
So I left the classroom, and I went to graduate school to become a psychologist. I started studying kids and adults in all kinds of super challenging settings, and in every study my question was, who is successful here and why? My research team and I went to West Point Military Academy. We tried to predict which cadets would stay in military training and which would drop out. We went to the National Spelling Bee and tried to predict which children would advance farthest in competition. We studied rookie teachers working in really tough neighborhoods, asking which teachers are still going to be here in teaching by the end of the school year, and of those, who will be the most effective at improving learning outcomes for their students? We partnered with private companies, asking, which of these salespeople is going to keep their jobs? And who's going to earn the most money? In all those very different contexts, one characteristic emerged as a significant predictor of success. And it wasn't social intelligence. It wasn't good looks, physical health, and it wasn't I.Q. It was grit.
Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. Grit is having stamina. Grit is sticking with your future, day in, day out, not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years, and working really hard to make that future a reality. Grit is living life like it's a marathon, not a sprint.
A few years ago, I started studying grit in the Chicago public schools. I asked thousands of high school juniors to take grit questionnaires, and then waited around more than a year to see who would graduate. Turns out that grittier kids were significantly more likely to graduate, even when I matched them on every characteristic I could measure, things like family income, standardized achievement test scores, even how safe kids felt when they were at school. So it's not just at West Point or the National Spelling Bee that grit matters. It's also in school, especially for kids at risk for dropping out. To me, the most shocking thing about grit is how little we know, how little science knows, about building it. Every day, parents and teachers ask me, "How do I build grit in kids? What do I do to teach kids a solid work ethic? How do I keep them motivated for the long run?" The honest answer is, I don't know. (Laughter) What I do know is that talent doesn't make you gritty. Our data show very clearly that there are many talented individuals who simply do not follow through on their commitments. In fact, in our data, grit is usually unrelated or even inversely related to measures of talent.
So far, the best idea I've heard about building grit in kids is something called "growth mindset." This is an idea developed at Stanford University by Carol Dweck, and it is the belief that the ability to learn is not fixed, that it can change with your effort. Dr. Dweck has shown that when kids read and learn about the brain and how it changes and grows in response to challenge, they're much more likely to persevere when they fail, because they don't believe that failure is a permanent condition.
So growth mindset is a great idea for building grit. But we need more. And that's where I'm going to end my remarks, because that's where we are. That's the work that stands before us. We need to take our best ideas, our strongest intuitions, and we need to test them. We need to measure whether we've been successful, and we have to be willing to fail, to be wrong, to start over again with lessons learned.
In other words, we need to be gritty about getting our kids grittier.
Thank you.
(Applause)
As we all know, "Failure is the mother of success." But few people canreally understand what the saying means.
In the world, I am sure that no one dare say he hasn't met any trouble allhis life. So we must face failure. In fact, failure is not fearful, butimportant thing is how to face it correctly. Facing failure, people will nevertake their fate lying down. They will try their best to work harder and harderuntil at last they succeed.
Not being courageous to face setbacks, people have no chance to enjoy thepleasure of success. So they have nothing to do but feel sad and empty all dayand all night. In fact, they lose the chance of success themselves.
My friend, whenever in trouble, please remember, "Failure is the mother ofsuccess."
hi, my name is . as a secretary in the fda, i would like to tell yousomething about food safety in the united states in both federal-level andstate-level.
food safety is a scientific discipline describing handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent foodborne illness. this includes anumber of routines that should be followed to avoid potentially severe healthhazards. food can transmit disease from person to person as well as serve as agrowth medium for bacteria that can cause food poisoning. debates on geneticfood safety include such issues as impact of genetically modified food on healthof further generations and genetic pollution of environment, which can destroynatural biological diversity. in developed countries there are intricatestandards for food preparation, whereas in lesser developed countries the mainissue is simply the availability of adequate safe water, which is usually acritical item.
federal-level regulation
the food and drug administration publishes the food code, a model set ofguidelines and procedures that assists food control jurisdictions by providing ascientifically sound technical and legal basis for regulating the retail andfood service industries, including restaurants, grocery stores and institutionalfoodservice providers such as nursing homes. regulatory agencies at all levelsof government in the united states use the fda food code to develop or updatefood safety rules in their jurisdictions that are consistent with national foodregulatory policy. according to the fda, 48 of 56 states and territories, representing 79% of the u.s. population, have adopted food codes patterned afterone of the five versions of the food code, beginning with the 1993 edition.

China is faced with some enormous challenges as it enters the 21st century. In order to ensure the prosperity of our nation and its future generations we must confront and ultimately solve these challenges.
Some of the more pressing issues facing China are universal. These include environmental degradation, over population andthe effects of globalization.
To overcome some of the things we need to implement include:
Enhancing our scientific and industrial technologies in such areas as IT, Bio- tech, AI and Cybernetics.
Further develop public infrastructure in under developed regions.
Promote education reform at all levels.
Introduce sustainable development initiatives.
The implementation of free trade agreement between China and ASEAN.
The benefit to China in introducing these initiatives will be significant and far-reaching. It is important to realize that these initiatives need to filter down through all elements of the society in China. For instance, cutting edge technologies and intellectual properties; the development of e-commerce based economy; an education system that encourages innovation and creativity; increased foreign investment; higher living standards; more efficient use of natural resources.
It is important for us to realize these reforms are both essential and necessary. These will help China to fulfill its vast and unrealized potential on the world stage. It will also contribute more to a globalized world of the new century.
As for the future our task is not to foresee but to enable.
good morning everyone, before my speech, i want to ask one question, what do you eat this morning? yeah, food is present in our life every time. so today my topic is how do we eat on campus?
1,in china there is an old saying: bread is the staff of life. the chinese meaning is 民以食为天。obviously, it means food plays a decisive [di'saisiv] role in our daily life, food safety is a matter of primary ['praim?ri] importance , the issue is closely related to ordinary people’s health.
2, as we know, the food safety is a serious problem in china, and on campus ,the matter is also exist, and the unhealthy food harm our health everyday. for example, in the morning, you buy a donut for breakfast, and likely, the donut is made by drainage oil; and when you hungry you buy kebab ,it may be dealed with chemical materials. so even on campus, we also should improve food safety awareness.
3, the unhealthy food seriously harm our body, it can cause different kinds of diseases, from a headache to cancer, this is not a threat, some unhealthy food, containing various additives. and which give a tremendous threat to us. some unhealthy food will make us ill, such as diarrhea , stomach ache and other disease of digestive tract. some food additives use chemical materials to make food looks better, but it will carcinogenic [,kɑ:sin?u'd?enik] in a long time.
I like going to school very much, because I am happy in school.
In school, I can learn knowledge from teachers. They are always kind to me. Having class is interesting. I like answering questions in class. I am proud to get the right answers. Besides, I am glad to play with my friends and classmates in school. We have many activities after class. We talk to each other, share our lives together.
After class, we often play on the playground. We have many games to play. After that, we often go home together. Some of us live nearly.
I'm a lifelong traveler. Even as a little kid, I was actually working out that it would be cheaper to go to boarding school in England than just to the best school down the road from my parents' house in California.
So, from the time I was nine years old I was flying alone several times a year over the North Pole, just to go to school. And of course the more I flew the more I came to love to fly, so the very week after I graduated from high school, I got a job mopping tables so that I could spend every season of my 18th year on a different continent.
And then, almost inevitably, I became a travel writer so my job and my joy could become one.
And I really began to feel that if you were lucky enough to walk around the candlelit temples of Tibet or to wander along the seafronts in Havana with music passing all around you, you could bring those sounds and the high cobalt skies and the flash of the blue ocean back to your friends at home, and really bring some magic and clarity to your own life.
Except, as you all know, one of the first things you learn when you travel is that nowhere is magical unless you can bring the right eyes to it.
You take an angry man to the Himalayas, he just starts complaining about the food. And I found that the best way that I could develop more attentive and more appreciative eyes was, oddly, by going nowhere, just by sitting still.
And of course sitting still is how many of us get what we most crave and need in our accelerated lives, a break. But it was also the only way that I could find to sift through the slideshow of my experience and make sense of the future and the past.
And so, to my great surprise, I found that going nowhere was at least as exciting as going to Tibet or to Cuba.
And by going nowhere, I mean nothing more intimidating than taking a few minutes out of every day or a few days out of every season, or even, as some people do, a few years out of a life in order to sit still long enough to find out what moves you most, to recall where your truest happiness lies and to remember that sometimes making a living and making a life point in opposite directions.
And of course, this is what wise beings through the centuries from every tradition have been telling us.
It's an old idea. More than 2,000 years ago, the Stoics were reminding us it's not our experience that makes our lives, it's what we do with it.
Imagine a hurricane suddenly sweeps through your town and reduces every last thing to rubble. One man is traumatized for life.
But another, maybe even his brother, almost feels liberated, and decides this is a great chance to start his life anew. It's exactly the same event, but radically different responses. There is nothing either good or bad, as Shakespeare told us in "Hamlet," but thinking makes it so.
And this has certainly been my experience as a traveler. Twenty-four years ago I took the most mind-bending trip across North Korea. But the trip lasted a few days.
Dear teacher:
I would like to thank you for all the help you gave me during this past semester. You were alway so patient when i asked you questions. You listened to them carefully and explained everything so thoroughly. You showed me different ways to practice and remember new words and usage. I felt so encouraged and became more comfortable in speaking english. You made the excercise so interesting that i was always very eager to participate and practice. My english has improved so much. How could i thank you enough?I cannot wait to take your clanext semester and keep working on my english.

When a variety of problems plague the information systems, the critical importance of information security becomes the focus of people's concern. It does deserve the unprecedented emphasis. It is widely accepted that information security, to some extent, outweighs other spheres in the field of information. So the related authorities, enterprises, institutions and organizations place the high priority on it.
Information Security concerns a range of problems- information interception, loss, damage etc. Business and military information leakage will have an devastating impact. For the information owners and monitors, they must drive their efforts to enhance the security protection and maintenance. For example, a strict control over the access to the secret data shouldn't be absent. The network and software provider should take a set of tailored protection measures targeting different computer crimes. The security issues should be also considered at the legislative level, so we are clamoring for a law designed to clamp down on various cyber crimes.
Winter is my favourite season.Winter's coming also means snow "following.

When it snowing,we will rush out of the warm and comfortable houses, run andplay on the ground in snow, enjoying the happiness that belongs to uschildren.
I also like to skiI with several boys. So, how can I forget the winter, andthe white ,beautiful flowers, and our simple happiness.
