The emergence of choices marks the beginning of a new era in China's history; an era of diversity, of material and cultural richness, and an era of the rebirth of the Chinese nation.

We enjoy the abundance of choice. But this has not come easily.

About 150 years ago, China was forced to open up its door by Western canons and gunboats. It has been through the struggle and sacrifice of generations that we finally have gained the opportunity to choose for ourselves. The policy of reform and openness is the choice that has made all the difference.

Like others of my age, I'm too young to have experienced the time when the Chinese people had no right to choose. However, as the next century draws near, it is time to ask: What does choice really mean to us young people?

Is choice a game that relies on chance or luck? Is choice an empty promise that never materializes? Or is choice a puzzle so difficult that we have to avoid it?

First, I would like to say: To choose means to claim opportunities.

I am a third-year English major. An important choice for me, of course, is what to do upon graduation. I can go to graduate school, at home or abroad. I can go to work as a teacher, a translator, a journalist, an editor and a diplomat. Actually, the system of mutual selection has allowed me to approach almost every career opportunity in China.

Honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen, good morning!

Today, my topic is "Changing Ourselves".

At first, I'd like to tell you a little story about an insurance salesman in Tokyo. Even though this man tried very hard to promote the insurance, nobody bought it. One day, he came to a small temple and began to brag about his insurance. After listening to his introduction, the monk said: "Your recommendation of insurance can't arouse any of my interests! When you are communicating with others, you must have the charm to attract others, or you will be unpromising in the future. Young man, try to change yourself!"

The salesman thought deeply about each word. From then on, he invited all his friends to point out his weakness and kept on improving himself bit by bit for all his life. Thirty years later, he became a millionaire. And this man is the famous salesperson in the world: Yuan Yi Ping. His experience reflects one attitude: sometimes, we should change ourselves instead of changing the world.

Human beings always scan others, therefore, lots of people just see the flaws of them, then they will blame and criticize the outside factors, some people will even try to change them! Unfortunately, they ignore the importance of the inner factors.

Everybody in the world needs to examine himself critically, everybody has to learn to be tolerant and generous. You won't think the world is splendid unless you change your attitude first.

Dear friends, we'd better remodel ourselves rather than blame each other. If we do so, we'll find that yesterday's sorrow is today's gratification, yesterday's opponent is today's assistant, and yesterday's failure is today's success! Remember: if we can change ourselves, we can change the whole world!

Thank you!

All these appalling facts have brought us to the realization that we can no longer stand by and do nothing, because the very thought of it has been eroding our resources. Encouragingly, the explosive growth of global travel has put tourism again in the spotlight, which is why the United Nations has made 20xx the year of ecotourism, for the first time to bring to the world's attention the benefits of tourism, but also its capacity to destroy our ecoenvironment.

Now every year, many local ecoenvironmental protection organizations are receiving donations - big notes, small notes or even coins - from housewives, plumbers, ambulance drivers, salesmen, teachers, children and invalids. Some of them cannot afford to send the money but they do. These are the ones who drive the cabs, who nurse in hospitals, who are suffering from ecological damage in their neighborhood. Why? Because they care. Because they still want their Mother Nature back. Because they know it still belongs to them.

This kind of feeling that I have, ladies and gentlemen, is when it feels like it, smells like it, and looks like it , it's all coming from a scene to be remembered, a scene to recall and to cherish.

The other night, as I saw the moon linger over the land and before it was sent into the invisible, my mind was filled with songs. I found myself humming softly, not to the music, but to something else, someplace else, a place remembered, a place untouched, a field of grass where no one seemed to have been except the deer.

And no matter who we are, what we do and where we go, in our minds, there's always a scene to remember, a scene worth our effort to protect it and fight for it.

Thank you very much.

Good morning.Ladies and gentlemen, it's my honor to be here today to give you this speech. My name is Coco. I'd like to talk about job satisfaction. I have divided my talk into three parts:firstly, the importance of job satisfaction; secondly, the factors of job satisfaction;finally, how to achieve job satisfaction.

Now, let's start with the first part: the importance of job satisfaction.

A job provides an individual with the necessary means to remain satisfied in almost every aspect of life such as leisure, health and social life.Several key factors are thought to be critical for an employee to achieve job satisfaction.

Let's turn to the second part: the factors of job satisfaction. A reasonable salary is of course the most important factor in job satisfaction.

Let's leave that there, now, let's come to the last part: how to achieve job satisfaction. for an individual employee, finding the right job and trying to stay positive might be the first step towards achieving job fulfillment and satisfaction.

I'll briefly summarize the main parts. Let me just run over the key points again. Firstly, the importance of job satisfaction;secondly,.the factors of job satisfaction;finally, how to achieve job satisfaction.

In conclusion, job satisfaction plays an important role in the company and individual. It is the key index to influence the company performance. So we should try our best to achieve it.

five score years ago, a great american, in whose symbolic shadow we standsigned the emancipation proclamation. this momentous decree came as a greatbeacon light of hope to millions of negro slaves who had been seared in theflames of withering injustice. it came as a joyous daybreak to end the longnight of captivity.

but one hundred years later, we must face the tragic fact that the negro isstill not free. one hundred years later, the life of the negro is still sadlycrippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. onehundred years later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midstof a vast ocean of material prosperity. one hundred years later, the negro isstill languishing in the corners of american society and finds himself an exilein his own land. so we have come here today to dramatize an appallingcondition.

in a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. when thearchitects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the constitution andthe declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to whichevery american was to fall heir. this note was a promise that all men would beguaranteed the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit ofhappiness.

it is obvious today that america has defaulted on this promissory noteinsofar as her citizens of color are concerned. instead of honoring this sacredobligation, america has given the negro people a bad check which has come backmarked "insufficient funds." but we refuse to believe that the bank of justiceis bankrupt. we refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the greatvaults of opportunity of this nation.

so we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demandthe riches of freedom and the security of justice.

we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind america of the fierceurgency of now. this is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or totake the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. now is the time to rise from the darkand desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. now isthe time to open the doors of opportunity to all of god's children. now is thetime to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solidrock of brotherhood.

it would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment andto underestimate the determination of the negro. this sweltering summer of thenegro's legitimate discontent will not pauntil there is an invigorating autumnof freedom and equality. nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but abeginning.

those who hope that the negro needed to blow off steam and will now becontent will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to busineas usual.there will be neither rest nor tranquility in america until the negro is grantedhis citizenship rights. the whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake thefoundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

but there is something that i must say to my people who stand on the warmthreshold which leads into the palace of justice. in the proceof gaining ourrightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. let us not seek tosatisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterneandhatred.

we must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity anddiscipline. we must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physicalviolence. again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meetingphysical force with soul force.

the marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the negro community must notlead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, asevidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destinyis tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to ourfreedom.

we cannot walk alone.and as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shallmarch ahead. we cannot turn back. there are those who are asking the devotees ofcivil rights, "when will you be satisfied?" we can never be satisfied as long asour bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motelsof the highways and the hotels of the cities. we cannot be satisfied as long asthe negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. we cannever be satisfied as long as a negro in mississippi cannot vote and a negro innew york believes he has nothing for which to vote. no, no, we are notsatisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters andrighteousnelike a mighty stream

i am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials andtribulations. some of you have come fresh from narrow cells. some of you havecome from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms ofpersecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. you have been theveterans of creative suffering. continue to work with the faith that unearnedsuffering is redemptive.

go back to mississippi, go back to alabama, go back to georgia, go back tolouisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing thatsomehow this situation can and will be changed. let us not wallow in the valleyof despair.

i say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties andfrustrations of the moment, i still have a dream. it is a dream deeply rooted inthe american dream.

i have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the truemeaning of its creed: "we hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men arecreated equal."

i have a dream that one day on the red hills of georgia the sons of formerslaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at atable of brotherhood.

i have a dream that one day even the state of mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed intoan oasis of freedom and justice.

i have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation wherethey will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of theircharacter.

i have a dream today.

i have a dream that one day the state of alabama, whose governor's lips arepresently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will betransformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will beable to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together assisters and brothers.

i have a dream today.

i have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill andmountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crookedplaces will be made straight, and the glory of the lord shall be revealed, andall flesh shall see it together.

this is our hope. this is the faith with which i return to the south. withthis faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone ofhope. with this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of ournation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. with this faith we will be ableto work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jailtogether, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free oneday.

this will be the day when all of god's children will be able to sing with anew meaning, "my country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee i sing.land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from everymountainside, let freedom ring."

and if america is to be a great nation this must become true. so letfreedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of new hampshire. let freedom ringfrom the mighty mountains of new york. let freedom ring from the heighteningalleghenies of pennsylvania!

let freedom ring from the snowcapped rockies of colorado!

let freedom ring from the curvaceous peaks of california!

but not only that; let freedom ring from stone mountain of georgia!

let freedom ring from lookout mountain of tennessee!

let freedom ring from every hill and every molehill of mississippi. fromevery mountainside, let freedom ring.

when we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and everyhamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that daywhen all of god's children, black men and white men, jews and gentiles, protestants and catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words ofthe old negro spiritual, "free at last! free at last! thank god almighty, we arefree at last!"

in my 18 years of life, there have been many things. university days are the best part of them. i can never forget the days when i stepped into my university. i was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. i at once fell in love with it.

after the arduous military training, i get absolutely absorbed in my studies. the classes given by the teachers are excellent. they provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. they easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as i can.

frankly speaking, at first i had some difficulty following the teachers. however, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers’ guidance, i made remarkable progress. now i’ve benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.

learning is a long process; i’ll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. this summer i got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. a publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.

at the beginning i was belittled by my colleagues. but they were really surprised when i translated seven english articles over 5,000 words on only one day. gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. in their opinion i turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.

i also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. so i often take part in activities concerning public welfare. i once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. we taught the kids there who could not afford school. while showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, i was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. i couldn’t control my tears on the day when we left. the precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.

besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. i do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. we also write a play and put it on in our spare time.

campus life is the most splendid time. but different people have different choices. the majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one day they’ll become outstanding. but there are indeed some students still under ignorance. they gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards. they’re busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. they forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland.

finally, i do hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. i do hope everybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society!

Dear classmates:

High three students, our footprint is binding on the cover of the season, the cover page of life, we will go to journey in June next year, run towards the dreams of June.

Many people say that the high three students like jingwei filling the stream, his mouth as if never plays with ABC and XYZ, thick lens grew up, grew thin hair down... Three means that enrich the sunrise, sunset.

So, three high school year is doomed to be heavy, heavy learning, heavy, heavy expectations, with lots of attention... Everything is in order to heavy harvest. Harvest, insist on, in the struggle! Nietzsche said: "a tree should grow taller, accept more light, then its root must be deeper into the darkness." And the third year is tough and lonely to grow like a tree.

We all know that: "the youth is beautiful". It not only beautiful in the beautiful appearance, even more beautiful in uplifting the spirit of the beauty in involve forward determination. We are ordinary, because we and other cold window study hard scholar as well as in the dream; We are special, because we need to do is a life the most critical.

Content is always happy, not happy people regularly, few people can know need how much effort to realize the dream of heart, we can only move forward, forward, forward again. So we're going to have such a determination and drive: "stick to it, never give up!" Don't pick the fruit of autumn in the summer. Pick, food is not sweet, abandon a pity, or wait until the harvest season to taste the joy of harvest!

Dream梦想

I don’t know what that dream is that you have, I don’t care how disappointing it might have been as you’ve been wo-rking toward that dream, but that dream that you’re holding in your mind, that it’s possible!

Some of you already know, that it’s hard, it’s not easy, it’s hard changing your life. That in the process of wo-rking on your dreams you are going to incur a lot of disappointment, a lot of failure, a lot of pain. There are moments that you are going to doubt yourself. You said, God why is this happening to me? I’m just trying to take care of my family, trying to give them a good life, I’m not trying to steal o-r rob from anybody. Why does this have to happen to me. Fo-r those of you that have experienced some hardships – don’t give up on your dream.

The rough times are gonna come, but they have not come to stay, they have come to pass. Greatness, is not this wonderful, esoteric, illusive, God like feature that only the special among can achieve. It’s something that truly exists, in all of us. It’s very impo-rtant fo-r you to believe that you are the one!

Most people they raise a family, they earn a living a-n-d then they die. They stop growing, they stop wo-rking on themselves, they stop stretching, the stop pushing themselves. Then a lot of people like to complain but they don’t wanna do anything about their situation. a-n-d most people don’t wo-rk on their dreams – why?

1. Is because of fear, fear of failure “what if things don’t wo-rk out“?

2. Is fair of success “what if they do a-n-d I can’t ha-n-dle it?”

These are not risk takers

You have spent so much time with other people, you have spent so much time trying to get people to like you, you know other people mo-re than you know yourself. You’ve studied them, you know about them, you want to hang out with them, you want to be just like them. You’ve invested so much time on them, you don’t know who you are. I challenge you to spend time by yourself.

It’s necessary, that you get the losers out of your life, if you want to live your dream. But people who are running towards their dreams, life has a special kind of meaning. When you become the ‘right-person’, what you do is you start separating yourself from other people you begin to have a certain uniqueness, as long as you follow other people, as long as you are being a ‘copy-cat’, you will never ever be the best copy-cat in the wo-rld but you will be the best you can be!

I challenge you to define your value.

Everybody won’t see it, everybody won’t join you, everybody won’t have the vision…it’s necessary to know that you are an uncommon breed. It’s necessary that you align yourself with people a-n-d attract people into your business, who are hungry, people who are unstoppable a-n-d unreasonable, people who are refusing to live life just as it is a-n-d who want mo-re!

The people that are living their dreams are parting with winners, to attach themselves to the a-n-d the people who are living their dreams are the people that know that if it’s going to happen it’s up to them!

If you want to be mo-re successful, if you want to have a-n-d do stuff you never done befo-re then I’m asking you to invest in you!

Someones opinion of you does not have to become your reality.

You don’t have to go through life being a victim. a-n-d even though you face disappointments, you have to know within yourself that ‘I can do this, even if no one else sees it fo-r me, I must see it fo-r myself!’

No matter how bad it is, how hard it gets, say to yourself, I’m going to make it!

I wanna represent an idea. I wanna represent possibilities. Some of you right now, you wanna go to the next level. You wanna be a civil engineer, you wanna council, you wanna be a docto-r.

Listen to me: You can’t get to that level. You can’t get to that level until you start to invest in your mind.

I dare you to invest in your mind.

I dare you to invest in your mind.

I dare you to invest time.

I dare you to be alone.

I dare you to spend an HOUR alone to get to know yourself.

I challenge you to get to a place where people do not like o-r do not even bother you anymo-re. Why? Because you’re not concerned with making them happy anyway. Because you’re trying to blow up. You’re trying to get to the next level. Because you’re investing in your mind.

If you’re still talking about your dream a-n-d your goals but you have not done anything just TAKE THE FIRST STEP.

You can make your parents proud, you can make your school proud you can touch millions of peoples lives a-n-d the wo-rld will never be the same again because you came this way. Don’t let anybody steal your dream!

After we face a rejection a-n-d a “no” o-r we have a meeting a-n-d no one shows up, o-r somebody says “you can count on me” a-n-d they don’t come through, what if we have that kind of attitude that cause reposes, nobody believes in you, you’ve lost again, a-n-d again, the lights are cut off but you are still looking at your dream, reviewing it everyday a-n-d saying to yourself: IT’S NOT OVER UNTIL I WIN!

You can live your dream!

Gentlemen of the Jury:

Tribute to the dog

The best friend a man has in the world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name may become traitors to their faith.

The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us, may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads.

The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer.

He will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings, and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.

If fortune drives the master forth, an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by the graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even in death.
